An architect by education, Amin Abbasi ventured into photography, graphic design, music, and cinema. However, his true passion lies in sculpting supernatural forms of life. He blends motifs from mythology, mysticism, ancient occult practices, and witchcraft. Amin rediscovers and molds supernatural beings and creatures, imbuing his sculptures with magical powers.
Even his sculptures derived from miniature paintings possess a supernatural, otherworldly aura. They appear alive yet decaying. For Amin, these creatures represent a collective memory from a forgotten past, lost due to disrupted communication between our present and the past. They seem exotic or out of place, though they once were part of everyday life. In Amin Abbasi's view, modern human consciousness has lost its connection to the past, retaining only distorted, mutilated images. We are afflicted by mass oblivion.
To illustrate this notion, he created five bronze figurative sculptures based on Persian miniature art, each representing a degree of the decadence of collective memory.
