Mehrnoosh Saavari

Mehrnoosh Saavari's paintings invite viewers into a world of mystery and ambiguity. Her work often evokes a sense of defamiliarization, where the familiar becomes strange and unsettling. Uncertainty and ambiguity are central to her artistic vision. Truth, for Saavari, is often shrouded and hidden, even when presented directly.

For example, a human figure gazing into space or a tree wrapped in white sheets can evoke a sense of the unknown. Life itself, with its objects, contexts, and human interactions, is readily visible, yet its connections, relations, and future outcomes remain uncertain and ambiguous. This sense of equivocacy permeates Saavari's work.
Born in 1980, Saavari holds an MA in Art Research and lives and works in the city.
