Description:
Lost Habitat is a striking visual lament for displaced nature and vanishing ecosystems. Against a deep crimson ground, a group of stylized lions rendered in earthy golds and arranged in decorative symmetry rest, roam, and react within a confined space. Surrounded by floral motifs reminiscent of tribal textiles, the composition speaks to the tension between wilderness and containment, beauty and loss. Rouhani’s use of traditional visual language elevates the ecological message into a timeless myth.

About the artist:
Roxaneh Rouhani (b. 1987) is a visual artist with an academic background in Food Industry Engineering. She has been painting since 2007 and has held three solo exhibitions, along with participating in numerous group shows in France, Turkey, and the United States. Her work, Dream Garden, was featured in the book One Hundred Works, One Hundred Artists. Rouhani’s signature style blends textures inspired by nomadic carpets with mythical and real creatures drawn from ancient visual traditions and Saqqakhaneh aesthetics.
